EPOCH sub-studies

EPOCH sub-studiesĀ in progress

Overview

Great research needs high-quality data. EPOCH trial data are comprehensive, high quality and can be used to answer new scientific questions.

Objective

Determining the frequency, nature, and outcomes of events in defined sub-groups.

Studying associations of practices and processes of care with clinical events and their outcomes.

Projects

Re-using the EPOCH dataset will enable completion of sub-studies each lead by a collaborator from an EPOCH site.

  1. Meaning of Late ICU admission
  2. Urgent ICU admission directly from the operating room or cardiac catheterization lab
  3. Hypoplastic Left Heart + Cardiomyopathy & Leukaemia-Lymphoma
  4. Outcomes attributable to delayed ICU admission in children with bronchiolitis
  5. Transfusion-related clinical deterioration events in hospitalized children in Quebec
  6. Death and dying in paediatric hospitals
  7. Hospital staffing, rates of in-hospital clinical deterioration and staff perceptions
  8. Timing of urgent PICU admission: hospital characteristics and PICU outcomes
  9. Urgent ICU readmission: Frequency, risk factors, center-variation and outcomes
  10. Implementation factors improving uptake of a complex inter-professional intervention

Dissemination

Peer reviewed publication, local presentation and presentation at the International BedsidePEWS meeting.
